Seed Distribution

***Please be aware that the Seed Distribution Scheme for 2025 is now closed***

Every year members of The Maple Society of Britain and Ireland collect seeds from interesting specimen trees from their private collections and arboreta across the country. We have a programme to share those seeds amongst our members so that they can be grown and enjoyed within our community.

If you are interested in participating in receiving these seeds, you will be sent approximately 15 packs of seeds, and you may choose whether those seeds come mostly from Japanese Maples, or mostly from a wider set of species of the Acer genus. When taking Acer species seeds, you will often obtain seed from trees quite rare in the UK, and often from very interesting provenance.

All seeds will be sent with guidance on how to successfully prepare them for germination.
To be eligible to access the seeds, you will need to be a member of the society. Membership is only £25 annually for UK and Ireland based members, which will entitle you to a whole host of other benefits. Links are below.

Once a member and to sign up for the programme, you will need to log into our members area under “My Account”. There is a nominal fee that covers shipping and handling.

You will then be able to access member content via the green Members Area button and will see a link to the Seed Distribution programme.
